About uӠɑ New Zealand
uӠɑ is a community based organisation that originated in France in the early 1970s and since then has expanded around the world. uӠɑ came to Aotearoa New Zealand in 1989. uӠɑ is a place for individuals who are in the third stage of their life journey (post career, family or working part-time) and are wanting to keep their minds active and make new social connections with like- minded people in their local community.
Our focus is on lifelong learning, and active participation in a wide range of interest groups. Plus, along the way having a chance to laugh and live in the moment together.
What we offer
uӠɑ offers members a place in their local community to come together to keep one’s mind active and learn something new. Interest groups are at the heart of uӠɑ and provide members a chance to re-discover past passions or new interests and activities in an informal and friendly atmosphere.
How we operate
Some uӠɑs hold a monthly meeting with guest speakers and offer a chance to socialise with members over morning or afternoon tea. Interest groups meet at various local locations across a month. Others run a lecture series over a calendar year with invited speakers and offer morning or afternoon tea. Plus, they offer a wide range of interest groups at various locations across a month.
